| Physical and Chemical Properties | Chemical properties orpiment is one of arsenic sulfide minerals. Monoclinic crystal system, the crystal is short column, plate, aggregate is flaky, rod, powder or kidney with radial structure. The color is lemon yellow (slightly green). The streaks are bright yellow. Grease gloss to diamond gloss. The sheet is transparent and flexible. Hardness 1.5~2, density 3.4~3.5g/cm3. Non-conductive. The charcoal is fusible, the flame is blue, white smoke and garlic smell. It is fusible to potassium hydroxide and has no residue. Mainly produced in low-temperature hydrothermal deposits, often with realgar, stibnite, white iron ore, quartz and other symbiosis. |
